Regular Rules is the duet of Gilles Mortiaux from Brussels, Belgium and Ilan Manouach from Athens, Greece. Despite the distance, the two gather often to perform, usually with a guest drummer, or record, either in Belgium or Greece or even around Europe. The sound of the core duet could be characterized as hardcore free-jazz, with Mortiaux creating layers of guitar paranoia and Manouach blowing his disordered psychotic saxophones, easily capable to transmute a childish-like fanfare song into an ultrasonic explosive massacre. People who have extensively performed with Regular Rules are Ivo Sans (drums), Teun Verbruggen (drums), Etienne Plumer (drums), Clement Nourry (guitar), Nikos Papavranoussis (drums) and Theodora Tzimou (vocals) among others. |
