Lunar Miasma (ex-Red Needled Sea) is the solo outfit of Panos Alexiadis (b. 1984) from Athens, Greece. He has studied the classical piano and sound engineering. Afterwards, he started research on sound, experimenting with software synthesis, electric guitar, piano and even toy instruments. He has been quite active, having released his music in European music labels like TIBProd, Dirty Demos, SQRT, Epicene, Ambolthue and his own Insult Recordings. The more time advanced, the more his sound was leaning towards the quiet, the esoteric and the well-crafted, drifting in the vein of drone ambient a la Matthew Florianz, Aidan Baker and Tim Hecker, the detuned ambient of early Aphex Twin and with touches of sparse piano à la Harold Budd and even Mauricio Kagel. By 2009, after changing his pseudonym to the current, Lunar Miasma, his sound, semi-automatically, turned to analogue drone beasts. Panos Alexiadis plays the drums in the doom metal band Heavensore. |
